VIENNA.....a trip indeedee!!

We packed our bags and bid farewell...........
So, Taylor and I flew to Vienna, via France and their horrible airport, (a week later I realized I lost my ipod on that plane!!) where Taylor was better at figuring out what to do than I was, but I digress....

Vienna, oh Vienna. I love Vienna. After Jeanne and Roger found us at the Airport we hopped on a train and traveled to their apartment near the center of Vienna. They had a really nice, large apartment, and Taylor and I each got our own bed.
Well, it was nice before I moved in
We went somewhere every day. First place we went was to our old apartment that my family lived in for a year on Tuchlauben Strasse. We sneeked in when someone was coming out, since they have locked gates. It was good to see the old cement stairs and mailboxes.
Our windows are the six windows above the ones with the cute black awnings on the second floor--put on long after we had left.

cement stairs
What fun we had eating "Eis" nearly every day, even
though it was cold, and some days windy, we forced
our selves to lick and lick until the yumminess was sadly gone.

Our favorite Eis shop (ice cream)
(that's me rushing to buy more EIS!!)

We went to the Wien Museum

Schoonbrun Palace
where the Royal Hopsburg family lived
Align CenterSt. Stephansdom

I think this is inside the Votif Kirche.

Me standing in front of Prater, an amusement park
with the largest Ferris Wheel in the world

Taylor and me in one of the large box cars on the Ferris Wheel

Vienna from the top of the Ferris Wheel. That is St. Stephansdom.
It was an overcast day, terrible for taking pictures.

Taylor and I pointing at the bumper cars-fondly
remembering Bill and I riding in those
oh so many years ago.......

Taylor and me on a tram

Roger and Jeanne on the tram

Plague statue on Graben, a touristy pedestrian only street

Horse carts everywhere. The horses were so cute.

Riding the escalator down to the Ubahn. That's Roger's head.
Hee hee

One of many "live" statues

See? Alive!

Taylor even got to go to a soccer game

Why does he get to look cute in every single picture??!!

This is Bratislava, Slovakia

Taylor got to go to Bratislava, Slovakia for the day, about
an hour's train ride from Vienna. He went with the BYU
students that are in Vienna for a semester.

Flower shops on nearly every corner.

Can't pass up taking a picture of really cute
window boxes filled with my favorite purple heather!

We ate Semmeln every single day, with apricot
and blackberry jam and yummy yogurt

And we ate

and ate

and ate

and ate

and ate.

Taylor and me waiting for a tram to go to church.
We were good little boys and girls and went to Roger's and Jeanne's
Austrian ward. Yes, it was hard to follow in German, but fun.

We didn't want to leave, but our time was gone. Back to the U.S. by way of Holland. The Holland airport has cute dutch stuff everywhere! Hello, Kennewick. I guess we are home.

Washroom redo...........

I love bead board and wanted to put it in another bathroom.
I will put in vinyl wood plank flooring later on.
The baseboards aren't done yet either, but
this is where it is right now.

BEFORE
DURING

You can see the other side of the room in the mirror.
I also plan on making a cute shower curtain. I thought
it would be really easy to do, but
it was a lot of work, and took quite a while; I
always seem to do that to myself. A lot of
"I can do that myself" to "Oz....?? Can you help
me with this?" Good thing he likes me.

Clearly a project overdue!.............

It's obvious why we needed to tear down the
old "TED" (tent/shed = Ted).
It looked good for a while, and lasted about 3 1/2 years,
but the wind got the best of it, and after taping it and fixing
it a whole bunch, it was time to move on.

This before and after will amaze you, and, well, it amazed
us that wecould pull it off!! What a boat load
of work, but worth it, and I got tan arms
and legs to boot!

The "ted" when she was new!
{Okay, okay, it's a "he"}

After about 3 1/2 years she was a goner.....
so we started to unload her. I mean him.

{what a bunch of junk!}

Then the experts were brought in....T.B.Boyce, the cementist.........
along with a couple of missionaries for lots of prayers,
and a neighbor looking on.....

Taylor, Carter and the Oz.....

One wall,

four walls,

rafters......

roof, or roof, however you want to pronounce it, and siding........

now shingles go on by another set of
experts, the La and Oz team......
{somehow the other "experts" seemed to disappear
to other regions of the globe}

{isn't she a hot mama, and I mean hot. About 100 degrees hot!!}

Too bad we didn't have someone filming us when we finished.
We did a giant dance and yelled "YAHOOOOOO!"
right on top of the roof!!

window (like you needed to be told)

And the final finished product. His name?
We're taking suggestions............
