How to kill yourself when putting in a wood floor:

We put new hard wood floors in our kitchen and
dining area about two years ago. We had ugly 80's vinyl in the
kitchen and carpet in the dining area. It's history and here's the short of the story:

I don't have a before; darn camera is never around when I need it!

This is the horrible "during" phase.
We lived this way for at least 2 weeks.

I guess I scared Oscar when I snapped this one!

Yes, we were declared "officially dead", I promise!
It was one of the hardest things I've done.

"I can't believe this is almost over...I am in soooooo glad!!"

Well, was it worth it??

I sure think so!! Definitely!

(I don't know how this clock got here! It's on the right side also, where I first put it.)

Five things I love today....

The cute city signs we saw on our trip to Denmark.

Me as a little girl, two or three years old.
My hair, unfortunately, still looks like this today... :(

A beautiful, serene laundry room from a Parade of Homes show house.

A cute bedroom, also on the Parade of Homes.

And, of course, my granddaughter, Avery.

life....take it as it comes... and hold on...

I just read my niece's blog and she had a neat idea on picking a word for the year. She picked "EMBRACE", as in embrace life, embrace the moment...etc.

I had to laugh because Oscar and I have a saying we've used for a few years and it is..(drum roll)...
"EMBRACE THE HORROR".
It's from the movie "Armagedon". We love that saying and to us it means to grab on to life no matter what it brings you and hold on tight for the ride, because it is going to be bumpy! You can probably guess that we have had teenagers, all boys, and believe me, we've embraced the horror many, many times! What would life be without that kind of fun?
